People’s Development Forum (PDF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving marginalized people throughout Tanzania and South Sudan. Since its founding in 2010, PDF has implemented donor-funded programs centered on child protection, health promotion, legal aid, climate change, and WASH, among other development areas. PDF is headquartered in Dar es Salaam and operates regional offices across the country. In 2015 PDF opened a branch in Juba, South Sudan, to meet the needs of displaced persons in the post-conflict setting.
A community with improved social well being for all.
To identify and address the root causes of problems facing marginalized communities through strategic approaches and methodologies.
PDF empowers communities and grassroots institutions in the areas of leadership, governance, specialized skills, monitoring, evaluation, and management. Empowered communities assume responsibility for managing and predicting their own needs, take responsibility for their own development, and hold their leaders and service providers accountable.
PDF improves the livelihood of marginalized people by providing direct services to institutions and communities. Services have included infrastructure development for Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), HIV and viral hepatitis counseling and testing, home-based care, legal aid, and referral services for child abuse survivors to justice institutions.
Through this inclusive and participatory framework, PDF engages policy leaders, decision makers, community members and other stakeholders to work towards a common goal.
